About our Team
The Australian Hydrographic Office is the Department of Defence agency responsible for the publication and distribution of nautical charts and other information required for the safety of ships navigating in Australian waters. Tides and Geodetic Control is responsible for managing tidal height, tidal stream and geodetic data required to produce the Official tidal publications for Australia, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.
This includes providing guidance through instructions and standards on datum transformations, to manage the vertical and horizontal datum of all data held and publications produced by the Australian Hydrographic office. Guidance is also provided to the HydroScheme Industry Partnership Program (HIPP) for data collection required to support the development of the AUSHYDROID.
The TGC team consists of a combination of 1 military and 6 civilian personnel. The team has a mixture of qualifications in the fields of Land Surveying, Hydrographic Surveying and Oceanography.
Our Ideal Candidate
The person provides support to the Tides and Geodetic Control Section specifically supporting bespoke tool called Tides Information System; that has been and continues to be developed.
The person provides high quality geospatial data management and analysis to support activities including nautical publication creation, HydroScheme support, foundation dataset development, and research and development ensuring timelines are met.
