Full job description

Your new company
This highly regarded peak body with regional offices in NSW is seeking a Policy Manager to join their team in Wollongong. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Illawarra region, you will provide research, analysis and policy support across a range of issues affecting members. In consultation with the Executive Director, you will be responsible for advocating with government and stakeholders on behalf of the community.

Your new role

  • Analysis, research and development of policy matters impacting members in the region
  • Proactive stakeholder engagement with members to develop policy positions
  • Preparing submissions to federal, state and local government
  • Developing media releases and key messages in collaboration with leadership
  • Drafting speeches and presentations for the Executive Director
  • Developing reports, briefings and coordinating lobbying
  • Representing the region in meetings with federal, state and local government
  • Developing operating and strategic policy positions
  • Representation at key business and economic development forums

What you'll need to succeed

  • Exceptional skills in policy development, research and analysis
  • Expertise in analysing policy issues and recommending advocacy positions
  • Effective stakeholder skills with all levels of government and industry
  • Demonstrated experience in communications and media relations
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Keen interest in monitoring the legislative and political process and environment
  • Tertiary qualifications in public policy, economics, business, law or similar
