Security Policy Officer Salary $83,928 to $95,873 Opportunity Type Full-Time Opportunity Status Ongoing APS Classification APS Level 6 Closing Date 29/09/2021 Posted15/09/2021 Print Department of Defence Security Policy Officer Bungendore NSW The key duties of the position include: The Role As the APS 6 Security Policy Officer, you will work within a small integral team that plans and executes special capabilities in support of Australian Defence Force operations, actions and activities. Within this role, you will be accountable: * Under broad direction, to manage the promulgation and enforcement of clear business rules and protocols and perform and achieve complex information and knowledge management. * To provide the authoritative security advice and undertake the administration of security and governance duties for Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC) Advanced Capabilities and Special Program activities. Including, oversight of the Joint Technical Operations (JTO) Systems Administrator/Security Manager (SASM) position to provide advice on nuanced security policy and governance. * To ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, governance decision-making, Defence's mission, and national and international policy requirements. The APS 6 Security Policy Officer is also responsible for the currency and compliance of JTO security policy and to report any actual or possible security infractions or violations through the Special Technical Operations (STO) Chief. The Security Policy Officer is accountable to develop and sustain productive working relationships with numerous Departmental and international agencies and other Australian Government Organisations. About our Team The Joint Technical Operations (JTO) cell is a small team within the Joint Operations Branch, Joint Effects Directorate of Headquarters Joint Operations Command that plans and executes special capabilities in support of ADF operations. The team is led by a Military O5; this position is staffed on a rotational basis by all three services. A cohesive and dynamic team, the JTO functions with a high degree autonomy to identify, plan and execute tasks in support of ADF operations, exercises and activities. Our Ideal Candidate The candidate would be a self-starter, capable of interpreting and managing complex information and multi-faceted security activities with limited supervision. The Ideal Candidate will: * Be able to work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work. * Be capable of working within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures to provide expert policy advice and engage in complex problem solving. They will be able to exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. * Have prior experience in information management and cyber security and have an in-depth understanding of knowledge management, development, implementation and compliance of principles and policies within these fields. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to plan, lead and manage an integrated workforce, capably engaging and liaising with stakeholders in a range of complex issues. They will have an understanding of how to exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve organisational outcomes. The candidate will actively contribute to ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
