Warilla Gorillas rugby league first-grader Alex Volkanovski has turned his skills to mixed martial arts, in which he is dominating his weight division.Volkanovski (pictured) has had three caged MMA fights and has won them all by knockout in the first round.MMA promoters are loving the pure aggression that Volkanovski brings to the ring as well as the many followers he attracts to tournaments."Alex has huge potential in MMA and his dedication to training will ensure he continues to grow in the sport," Freestyle Fighting Gym trainer Joe Lopez said.Volkanovski, who was man of the match in last year's Group Seven grand final when Warilla beat Gerringong, said he started MMA to keep fit for rugby league. However, he soon realised he had a passion for the sport and wants to go as far as he can.His latest fight was against Kade Curry on the Ego Tested promotion at Hurstville Entertainment Centre last Friday night when he won by a first-round knockout.Volkanovski's next fight will be on the Wollongong Wars MMA promotion at the Snakepit, Beaton Park, on Saturday, March 31.
