Police and ambulance officers treated the girl on the corner of Pioneer Road and Railway Street.
Corrimal High School principal Mark King confirmed the injured girl was a student at the school.
‘‘A student was crossing at the crossing, she was hit by a [car], but we’re not quite sure of the circumstances yet,’’ Mr King said.
‘‘We’ll wait until we find out from the police.
‘‘At the present time, she’s safe, she’s fine, she’s obviously injured but it doesn’t seem to be too serious.’’
The girl was taken to Wollongong Hospital with back pain.
