The Move For Mark Fun Run is on again this year at Stuart Park, North Wollongong, on Sunday, December 9.
Illawarra athlete and triathlon coach Mark Scott was involved in an accident while training in June last year.
He was riding his bike in Primbee when he and a car collided, resulting in him sustaining a serious brain injury.
He remains in hospital.
It is hoped that the motivation and determination that made Scott such a fine athlete and coach will continue to shine through and help him recover.
Funds raised at this fun-run event will be used to help pay for Scott's continuing care and rehabilitation.
To date Scott has made good progress, but remains in what is called a "minimally responsive state".
His family hopes that last year's Illawarra community response can be repeated on December 9.
Move For Mark committee member Russell Dessaix-Chin also has high hopes for the future of the event.
"We are hoping that soon enough we will be able to rename the event 'Move With Mark', and then continue to raise funds for a charity of a similar nature," Dessaix-Chin said yesterday.
The organising committee thanks all the businesses that have supplied prizes and resources towards this event, and to the Illawarra community for its continued thoughts and support of Scott, his family and the Move For Mark Fun Run.
The fun fun will start at the Savvy Corner of Stuart Park at 10am, with registration from 8am on the day.
The event is open to all, whether they choose to run, walk, stroll or have a picnic.
Individual entry is $30 and $60 per family.
Donations are welcome.
