Shoalhaven Police said that at about 1.25am the man was driving his Commodore sedan on Yalwal Road with three male passengers in the vehicle.
The car failed to negotiate a left-hand bend and hit the kerb, causing it to lose control and roll a number of times.
The driver was partially ejected through the driver's window but his legs remained trapped in the car. He was released by one of the passengers and emergency services were called.
The injured driver was taken by ambulance to the rescue helicopter and air lifted to Canberra Hospital.
Police said the driver was in a stable condition with head and leg injuries. The other passengers suffered minor injuries.
