Talented Oak Flats teenager Jordan Taylor will be chasing two titles after reaching today's pairs and singles finals of the Junior South Pacific at Warilla Bowling Club.
Fourteen-year-old Taylor, who plays Illawarra No 1 pennants for Oak Flats, will face Narooma's Jay Breust in this afternoon's under 16s singles final, while yesterday Taylor and partner Danyon Christie (Fairy Meadow) won through to the pairs decider.
Asked to rate making both finals Taylor said: "It's 10 out of 10. I know it's going to be hard but I'm looking forward to it."
Fairy Meadow's Australian under 18 rep Dawn Hayman made it a great tournament for Illawarra juniors by reaching the Open (under 18s) singles final against Glenbrook's Greg Jeans.
Warilla's Australian under 18 rep Samantha Noronha and partner William Johnson will take on Taylor and Christie in the pairs final this morning.
Noronha and Johnson were impressive 19-7 winners over Jodie Marshall and Jay Breust in their pairs semi-final yesterday, while Taylor and Christie accounted for Ellen Ryan and Natalie Noronha 20-5 in their semi.
Taylor began the tournament on Monday with a 25-17 win over St Johns Park state player Jamie Lee Worsnop then had to play three post-sectional matches on Wednesday to reach the under 16s final. Taylor beat Brad Burrows 25-14, then defeated Kallan Egar 25-11 in his quarter-final, and Sam Hatch Caccomo (Putney Tennyson) 25-17 in the semi-final.
Warilla youngster Jayden Gebbe reached the last 16 in pairs.
The singles finals will be played this afternoon and the pairs this morning.
