4.20pm UPDATE: The two-hectare grass fire at Wingecarribee Dam is under control, according to the Rural Fire Service.
2.30pm UPDATE: A grass fire at Wingecarribee Dam is burning out of control, according to the Rural Fire Service.
The blaze along old Kangaloon Rd at Burrawang has burned 2 hectares at this stage, the RFS reported in its 1.50pm update.
Meantime, the RFS is continuing to monitor the uncontained bushfire burning in the Deans Gap area of Morton National Park, approximately 7 km west of Sussex Inlet.
The RFS has upgraded the fire danger to extreme as temperatures soar.
There is potential for the fire to break containment lines.
The fire has burnt through more than 9100 hectares since it started on January 7. It is not currently threatening properties.
The RFS said more than 80 firefighters were closely monitoring the fire activity and working to strengthen containment lines. Firefighters were focused on extinguishing hotspots in the north-western section of the fire.
Road and Park Closures:
Wandean Road is closed, however residents are allowed access.
