Night work is being carried out on the highway from Sunday to Thursday from 8pm to 5am between McKay Street and Central Avenue until February 28, weather permitting.
Traffic on the highway between Hillcrest Avenue and Kinghorne Street will be temporarily moved onto the western side of the road in late February to provide a safe working environment for workers and motorists.
A new roundabout is being installed at the intersection of the highway and Hillcrest Avenue, which is expected to be open to traffic later this month.
Other major work includes the building of the foundation road layers for the new northbound lanes, installation of the new stormwater and subsurface drainage systems and building new frog friendly culverts.
Vehicles travelling in both directions on the highway between Kinghorne Street and Forest Road are able to pass the worksite under traffic control.
Motorists are advised to plan their journey, allow extra travel time, and obey all signs.
