Police confirmed this morning that the man, believed to be in his '30s, was still in a critical condition and had not regained consciousness at St George Hospital overnight.
The cyclist was participating in the opening stretch of the Johnny Warren Classic bike ride when he came off his bike while cycling down a steep hill near Stanwell Park.
Paramedics were called to Lawrence Hargrave Drive, near Bald Hill, about 8.45am to find the man halfway down a hillside.
He was treated for severe head injuries at the scene and moved to a nearby park.
He was airlifted to St George Hospital in a critical condition around 11am yesterday.
