The 2000 square metre facility on Tongarra Road near Centenary Hall is in the centre of Albion Park and includes a storage and amenities building and space for 14 community buses, as well as separate parking for the driver's vehicles.
The $355,000 project was funded by Shellharbour City Council with the assistance of $77,000 from the NSW Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care.
The service needs more volunteers to ensure the subsidised transport service, which also provides shopping trips and social outings, can continue.
"The success of this service is largely attributed to the 51 volunteer drivers and client support people who contribute on average some 20,000 hours of community service a year," Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said.
"The voluntary assistance of our residents helps to ensure that we can continue to meet the needs of our community now and in the future."
Potential volunteers can contact Shellharbour council on 4221 6111.
