There was so much interest in the new publication On The Trail Of Genghis Khan the large lecture theatre in the McKinnon Building at the University of Wollongong was full.
At the end of his two hour presentation about his ride from Mongolia to Hungary, Cope thanked the many people who came to the book launch and spoke again of his fondness for Wollongong.
"I have really appreciated coming to Wollongong over many years," he said.
"Daniel Rowan from Internetrix has been a really integral part of what I have done over more than 10 years now. You have been really great."
Jolly is lead speaker
National Bank Australia Global Markets global research head Peter Jolly is the keynote speaker at tomorrow's Illawarra Regional Information Centre (IRIS) Economic Outlook Lunch.
Mr Jolly is sharing his thoughts on the global and Australian outlook, while IRIS executive director Simon Pomfret will focus on the Illawarra, as well as IRIS's performance over the past 12 months.
Advisers welcomed
NSW Small Business Commissioner Yasmin King is in the Illawarra welcoming three new business advisers who have been appointed by new Small Biz Connect provider, ETC.
Ms King said the new local advisers would give small businesses the help they needed in an economically challenging climate and would be giving advice during the Small Biz Bus's visit to Wollongong and Shellharbour this week.
It will be at the park on the corner of Tongarra Road and Terry Street, Albion Park, from 12pm to 4pm today and at Crown Street Mall, Wollongong tomorrow from 9am to 3pm.

Novotel Wollongong Northbeach staff continued their tradition of supporting every good cause possible last week by getting involved in R U OK? Day.

The day has become an annual event to help get a conversation started and reach out to support people struggling with life.

Invitation to forum
CTPM Australasia has invited Illawarra businesses to attend its 2013 TPM & Lean Annual Forum at the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach this week.
Organisations from Australia and overseas are coming to Wollongong to reveal how they have each mapped their own pathway to operations excellence using the TPM methodology.
After the event, attended by companies such as Coopers Brewery, SunRice and Banpu's Indominco Mining Operations and Port Facility in Indonesia, CTPM president Ross Kennedy is off to China with his research and development manager Zoe Zhou.
Mr Kennedy has been invited as keynote speaker at a national congress in Guilin, China.
Youth in spotlight
JCI Illawarra is hosting a Youth Unemployment Forum at Wollongong Golf Club on September 26 for those interested in understanding the challenges faced in the community, given the youth unemployment rate for the Illawarra statistical district is just below 15 per cent.
Panelists will include IRIS Research executive director Simon Pomfret and Southern Youth and Family Services employment, education and training program manager Stephen Dodd.
Holiday program
Shellharbour artist and teacher Natalija Vocanec has put together another Little Leonardo's Art Studio school holiday program at her studio in Warilla and Towradgi Beach Hotel to help parents keep children occupied and active during the school break.

RAW showcase
RAW Wollongong director Sharn Hammond is preparing for the launch of its second showcase on September 27.
The inaugural showcase in August was attended by more than 850 people, who supported some amazing local and talented members of the Illawarra arts community.
