William has been crowned the most popular boy baby name for 2013 in the Hunter while Olivia took out the top spot for the girls.
A review of the Newcastle Herald birth notices shows that the region's parents have been opting for classic names.
Lilly was second for the girls, Lucy third and Mia fourth, while Ruby rounded out the top five.
Over in the blue corner Lachlan was the second most popular name, then Charlie, followed by Cooper and Darcy.
It's a bit of a shake-up on 2012 when Hunter parents took inspiration from the '70s and were mostly choosing Evie and Max.
In 2011 Lucas was the overwhelming standout.
This year's local choices seem to be in line with parents across the state.
Especially when it comes to William - this is the fifth year in a row it has been the most popular boy choice in NSW.
It is a name that has remained popular across the last century - apart from taking a slight slip in the '70s.
It was a little different when looking at the girls.
Charlotte got the gold for NSW, just coming out on top of Olivia in second.
Although the most popular names in the Hunter have been quite conservative, there were some unusual and unique picks.
Among them were Ignayshea, Juzzi, Passion and Stirling.
Warners Bay residents Owen and Wendy Katalinic have just welcomed their newest addition to the family.
William was born on December 9, becoming the youngest of three.
Mr Katalinic said one of the biggest factors in choosing the name was that it was easy to spell.
He said the Duke of Cambridge and future king, Prince William, had no influence on their decision.
"We just liked the sound of it," he said.
"We certainly have had our fair share of discussions to come to a decision for a name.
"Because of our surname we wanted his first one to be an easy one to spell.
"I'm surprised; I didn't think it would be the most popular name."
