The George Bass Trophy will return to Bulli Surf Club after Paul Jones' dominant crew won the sixth stage of the marathon race yesterday.
The victory, Bulli's fifth straight stage win, in the 27-kilometre leg from Tathra to Pambula sealed the overall victory ahead of tomorrow's final leg from Pambula to Eden.
"We won't celebrate until tomorrow but we've pretty much wrapped it up now," Jones said.
"We gave the B-crew a chance to start and they gave us an 80-metre lead.
"They smashed it. When the A-crew came in we put enough of a lead on that we could cruise to the finish."
Despite having an unassailable lead the crew is determined to win the final stage today.
"To finish first over the line on the last day is a big thing with the crowd and everything so we want to make sure we wrap it up properly," Jones said.
