Former South Pacific fours champion John Green will skip against Chris Green in a battle of composite teams in tomorrow's fours final at Warilla Bowling Club.
John Green, the defending singles champion who has also won the pairs and fours crowns, edged out Shane Garvey and his all-Wiseman Park team 21-18 in a final end thriller in their semi-final yesterday afternoon.
Garvey tied the match 18-18 heading into the 21st and final end, before Green and partners Peter Freestone, Barry Martin and Michael Clarke picked up three shots and a place in the final.
John Green will take on skip Chris Green and his partners 12-year-old Jono Davis, Jamie Thelander and 15-year-old Dylan Skinner for the title.
Chris Green proved a little too strong for the Brett Pieper-skipped side 26-15 in their semi-final, though Pieper and his team had a great carnival.
Playing lead for the reigning Zone 16 singles champion Pieper was his Figtree RSL clubmate Jarrod Beckford - in his first 12 months of bowls and a Grade 7 pennant bowlers - plus Grade 4 clubmate Alan Jones and Wiseman Park Grade 1 player Robin Smith.
Meanwhile, Aaron Teys and Shane Garvey lead the way for the Player of the Carnival honour heading into today's pairs quarter-finals.
Both players are still alive in pairs with defending champions Garvey and his partner Robin Smith taking on Teys and Warilla clubmate Mathew McIntyre in the quarters.
Teys is on seven points in Player of the Carnival standings, after collecting six points already for making the singles final, plus a point for being in the pairs quarter-final.
