The Dapto under 14A cricket team will fulfil the dream of playing at the Sydney Cricket Ground tomorrow in the final of the Weet-Bix Twenty20 Cup.
Dapto qualified as NSW Country champions by beating Port Macquarie and Northern Power at Maitland on January 22, while Keira reached the Country final four of the under 16s comp.
Dapto take on Sydney Metro champions Revesby in tomorrow's NSW final.
"Everyone is very pumped and excited about playing at the SCG," Dapto under 14s coach Brett Magennis said.
"Whatever happens we are the Country champions and while Revesby will be a very tough team to beat, the boys have had a great tournament and are feeling quietly confident."
Dapto began their quest by beating two Keira under 14s teams to win the Illawarra T20 title.
Dapto then beat Southern Zone champions Nowra, and then Port Macquarie and Northern Power.
First up, in the Country playoff semi-final, Dapto dominated Port Macquarie with bat and ball in a convincing 81-run victory.
The Illawarra side batted first and made 141 from their 20 overs, led by Matty Calder's 47 and Harry Magennis's 44.
Lleyton Callaway then took 4-4, including three wickets in his first two overs, with Port Macquarie bowled out for just 60.
The Country championship final saw Dapto bat first, posting 108 against Northern Power.
The top order led the way; Harry Magennis made 38 and Ryan Castles 34.
Northern Power began the run chase well before Lleyton Callaway took a great catch to dismiss their best batsman while Jye Phillips then made a critical breakthrough with the ball.
Matty Calder came on in the 12th over and cleaned up the middle, finishing with 5-13 with Northern Power dismissed for 81.
Tomorrow's final is from 12pm, with Dapto to have an official team photo in front of the SCG's members stand.
