Wollongong MP Noreen Hay has called on Port Kembla Copper to halt the demolition of its stack, set down for February 20.

She said she has been approached by residents concerned about the community's safety.
"The safety of all residents of Port Kembla, Wollongong and the Illawarra is paramount," Mrs Hay said.
"The demolition of the stack should be placed on hold until all the environmental and safety concerns can be thoroughly investigated. A number of proposals have been presented to retain the stack as a tourist attraction.
"I have yet to hear a satisfactory explanation as why proposals, such as Stack 360, could not be accommodated.
"Why the rush to fell this iconic structure?"
