A big week of gig announcements in Wollongong!

• Cloud Control will play a free gig at Towradgi in April. Part of an expansive national tour in stripped-back acoustic mode, the indie four-piece will play Towradgi Beach Hotel on April 6.

• Ash Grunwald and Ball Park Music have both announced shows at the Unibar. Grunwald will play in solo mode on March 6, while Ball Park Music will be joined by Papa vs Pretty on April 3. Tickets for both shows are on sale now.

• Music Farmers and Yours & Owls will again team up for a special gig in April. Melbourne psych-rock band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will do a “secret laneway party” somewhere in Wollongong on April 13. You can get tickets now, but the support bands and the location won’t be revealed for a little while yet.

• 2014 marks the 20th anniversary of iconic Aussie punk band Bodyjar, and they will head our way over the Easter long weekend. Playing with locals Lower Coast Skies and Crash Tragic, Bodyjar will hit Towradgi Beach Hotel on Good Friday (April 18), with early bird tickets available for just $10.

• In more punk news, the touring Hits And Pits festival has added a few Wollongong boys to the lineup for the Sydney date at UNSW Roundhouse. Jae Haydon (formerly of Lost In Line) and Josh Arentz (of Nerdlinger) have been locked for the acoustic stage, playing alongside legendary bands Strung Out and Unwritten Law on May 11.

• On air playout – Wollongong Youth Centre is calling for new hosts for their OnAir-PlayOut radio program on Vox FM. Anyone aged 15-24 with an interest in youth issues or local music can apply to host the show, which broadcasts on Monday nights. Call 42278222 for more info.

• Wollongong metalcore band Graves will support American metal band The Acacia Strain on their Australian tour in April. The 12-date tour begins in Perth on April 23 before ending on the Gold Coast on May 4.
