Motorcyclist killed in Unanderra crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car at Unanderra on Thursday night.

Police said a red Mazda 2 and a motorbike collided on the Princes Highway at 9.30pm.

The motorbike rider, 39, was treated at the scene by paramedics but could not be revived.

The woman driver of the car, 24, was not injured and taken to Wollongong Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Lake Illawarra Police Detective Inspector Glen Broadhead said it was believed the motorbike rider had gone through a red light.

The Princes Highway was closed in both directions between 9.30 and 11.45.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
