It was an early start for a Sunday morning as 110 kids and their parents began to limber up just after 7.30am for the first Kids Run at Bulli.

The non-competitive run was the brainchild of Alita Ashcroft, part-owner of Woonona's EnVie Fitness, who organised the event after her five-year-old son ran five kilometres with her in an adult's fun run last year.
The 2km and 4km courses along the bike track from Sandon Point Reserve to Bulli Beach was a long way for little legs. But the event went off without a hitch, and most children made the distance easily.
Children aged between 4 and 14 were eligible to enter, though the younger children needed an adult participant to supervise.
Ms Ashcroft's business partner Alexandra Blake said $5 of the $20 and $25 entry fee would be donated to each child's school. The rest of the funds were used to cover costs including council fees, water and staff.
"We wanted to do something that would be of benefit to each child," Ms Blake said.
It took eight months of hard work to organise the event, but to watch a sea of little bodies running along the bike track was well worth the effort, Ms Blake said.
"To see the big smiles on their faces as they came over the finish line was really nice, really lovely," she said.
"We all had a fun morning and it was just a wonderful family thing to do.
"It's a long way and every kid was just so proud of themselves."
Ms Blake said the aim was to provide a community event that encouraged kids to get fit and stay healthy.
Though most of the children completed the 2km course of one loop between Sandon Point to Bulli Beach and back again, about 25 kids ran the loop twice.
However, all scooters, bikes and skateboards had to be left behind at the starting line so the kids would get their legs moving.
There are plans to hold the Kids Run each year in February.
