Bingle attacked me first: LA snapper

The photographer who was allegedly punched in the face by Australian actor Sam Worthington claims it was Lara Bingle who attacked him first on a New York street.

Paparazzo Sheng Li appeared in a Manhattan court on Monday charged with misdemeanour counts of assault and harassment.

Police allege Li was aggressively taking photos of Bingle and Worthington as they walked along a Greenwich Village street on Sunday afternoon.

Li deliberately kicked Bingle in the shin and Worthington retaliated by punching Li in the face, NYPD lieutenant John Grimpel told AAP.

Li’s lawyer Ron Kuby told a different story.‘‘Ms Bingle was the one that attacked him,’’ Kuby told the court, according to the New York Post.

‘‘She claims that Mr Li was following her for four hours and then runs up and kicks her in the shins.

‘‘In what world does that make any sense?’’

Bingle, according to the criminal complaint, told police Li ‘‘kept getting in her way as she was walking down the street and was trying to trip her.’’

But Kuby said Li’s  job was to take pictures and ‘‘Ms Bingle got upset and ran half way up the block and attacked him.’’

‘‘Her large famous boyfriend ran up and punched him four times in the face,’’ the lawyer told the court.

Worthington has been charged with third degree assault and will appear in Manhattan’s Criminal Court on Wednesday.

While Worthington was released soon after Sunday’s arrest, Li remained in custody until after Monday’s arraignment.

Lea Michele accused of being a ’diva’

US actress and singer Lea Michele’s alleged ‘‘diva’’ behaviour reportedly caused her publicist swap.

The Glee star has been with PR firm ID for a decade, but recently signed with Kim Kardashian’s former publicist Jill Fritzo.

But according to sources, the split wasn’t all on Michele’s terms.

The 27-year-old’s attitude was also a factor a source has told the New York Post’s Page Six.

‘‘She was saying that Ryan Murphy (Glee creator) was the only one who could make her do certain appearances.’’

While Michele spoke of how ‘‘grateful’’ she was for all the work she did with ID over the last decade, the PR firm wished the actress luck with her future endeavours.

‘‘We’re proud of our accomplishments during our long collaboration with Lea, and wish her only the best,’’ the publication reports an ID representative as saying.

It isn’t the first time Michele, who plays Rachel Berry on the popular Fox series, has been accused of being a diva.

In fact, ever since the show began in 2009, rumours have circulated she is hard to work with on set.

But the star, who is preparing to release her first solo album Louder, has shot down the allegations in a number of magazine interviews.

‘‘I can assure you that (the diva rumours) aren’t real,’’ she told Marie Claire in 2012.

‘‘It’s super-frustrating sometimes, and I used to fight back, but now I feel like, ’You can think what you want about me.’’
