Jared Leto celebrates Oscar win in Oz

Academy Award winner Jared Leto says he’ll celebrate his Oscars win with a trip to Australia.

The actor says his band 30 Seconds to Mars’ Australian tour is how he wants to celebrate winning Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of a HIV positive transgender man in Dallas Buyers Club.

‘‘The trip down under is a great way to celebrate the Oscar win,’’ he told the Sunrise Program on Friday.

‘‘It’s a beautiful place ... it feels very much like a second home.’’

Despite winning an Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, it’s emerged Leto has not actually seen the film.

He told Ellen DeGeneres said the role was so intense, he wanted to ‘‘just leave it alone right now’’.

‘‘I have not seen the film yet. I think one day I will watch it, because, you know, I’ll be curious at some point,’’ he said.

Leto and 30 Second to Mars’ Australia tour kicks off in Perth on March 25.


Angelina Jolie facing more surgery



Hollywood star Angelina Jolie is facing one more operation as she continues to recover from a double mastectomy.

The actress and director shocked the world by revealing in a New York Times article published last May that she’d undergone the preventative cancer surgery.

Jolie also underwent reconstructive surgery and now reveals her health battle is not yet over.

‘‘There’s still another surgery to have, which I haven’t (had) yet,’’ she told Entertainment Weekly.

The superstar says she’s been overwhelmed by the support and personal stories fans have shared with her in response to her headline-grabbing surgery.

‘‘Wherever I go, usually I run into women and we talk about health issues, women’s issues, breast cancer, ovarian cancer. I’ve talked to men about their daughters’ and wives’ health. It makes me feel closer to other people who deal with the same things and have either lost their parents or are considering surgeries or wondering about their children. I was very, very moved by all the support and kindness from so many people.’’

The Oscar winner is planning to turn to the same people to seek advice and tips on how to handle the next step in her recovery.

Jolie, who has not shared details of the looming operation, says, ‘‘I’ll get advice from all these wonderful people who I’ve been talking to, to get through that next stage.’’

The 38-year-old, who raises six children with her fiance Brad Pitt, is about to grace the big screen as villain Maleficent, in the movie of the same name.

The film hits cinemas form May, with star turns from Elle Fanning and Juno Temple.em Maleficient will be released in Australia on May 29.


Robbie feels ’mysterious’ with dark hair

Australian actress Margot Robbie feels mysterious with dark hair.

The 23-year-old debuted her new brown locks on the red carpet at the 2014 Academy Awards on Sunday.

The naturally blonde star dyed her hair earlier this year to begin work on her upcoming sci-fi movie Z for Zachariah.Robbie admits she initially found it hard to adjust to the change, but says she’s now enjoying her new look.

‘‘I did a movie and I didn’t have time to go back to blonde,’’ she told People magazine.

‘‘I’m liking it! I’m getting used to it. I feel very mysterious as a brunette,’’ Robbie said.

Robbie gave fans a glimpse at her brunette look with a photo on her WhoSay page in January, accompanied with the caption:

‘‘First day on set for Z! She ain’t a Duchess no more. (sic)’’.

Her appearance differs dramatically from that during her time working on the hit film The Wolf of Wall Street, in which she plays feisty blonde Naomi opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.


Cyrus hits back at Perry over kiss 

Miley Cyrus has taken a swipe at Katy Perry after their infamous kiss.

The pop stars locked lips when Perry attended the Wrecking Ball singer’s show in Los Angeles in February.

While in Sydney this week to promote her upcoming Australian tour, Perry joked that the front row smooch came as a surprise and was concerned about where Cyrus’ mouth had been.

‘‘I just walked up to her to give her like a friendly girly kiss, you know, as girls do, and then she like tried to move her head and go deeper and I pulled away,’’ Perry told the Seven Network on Wednesday.

‘‘God knows where that tongue has been. We don’t know, that tongue is so infamous.’’

But Cyrus, known for sticking her tongue out in photos, hasn’t taken the remark lying down.

She took to Twitter on Thursday to trade barbs.

‘‘Girl if ur worried abt where tongues have been good thing ur ex boo is ur EX BOO cause we ALL know where THAT (tongue) been,’’ Cyrus tweeted, dragging Perry’s rumoured ex-boyfriend John Mayer into the fight.

Perry and Mayer reportedly split last month amid rumours Mayer had just proposed.Star magazine reported on Thursday that Mayer had a ‘‘fling’’ with a Soul Cycle instructor last May, possibly leading to the split.


Rumours Lupita Nyong’o is dating K’Naan

Actress Lupita Nyong’o has sparked rumours she is dating rapper K’Naan after they were spotted leaving a US talk show together this week.

The Oscar-winning Kenyan actress was pictured embracing K’naan while exiting the Live! with Kelly and Michael show, which was filmed at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday.

Nyong’o was previously linked to actor/singer Jared Leto, but she laughed off the rumours, joking: ‘‘I thought Miley Cyrus broke us up.’’

The actress won the Oscar on Sunday night for her supporting role in 12 Years A Slave.
