Wollongong Twilight Food Markets cancelled

The Wollongong Twilight Food Markets planned for Friday evening have been cancelled.

At 3.30pm Wollongong City Council announced the markets, planned for Flagstaff Hill, would be called off due to the impending inclement weather.

‘‘The program should be back in October,’’ read a post on council’s Twitter page.

Across town the Flix In The Stix festival at the Botanic Gardens is still going ahead.

At 3.45pm the event’s managing director Simon Rollin told the Mercury there was only a ‘‘light sprinkle’’ at the gardens, but weather would be monitored.

Gates are due to open at 6pm, with Wollongong band 19-Twenty to kick off the night’s entertainment at 6.40pm before comedy act Axis of Awesome, a selection of short films and Australian rockers Eskimo Joe take the stage.
