8.46am MOVIE NEWS: The trailer for the new Annie film has been released - and it looks great! It stars Cameron Diaz as the evil Miss Hannigan and Jamie Foxx as Benjamin Stacks, a wealthy politician who befriends Annie.
8.40am NATIONAL NEWS: The trial of the man accused of murdering Queensland schoolboy Daniel Morcombe is expected to draw to a close this week. Jurors will today begin hearing closing submissions in the trial of Brett Peter Cowan, who is accused of abducting and murdering the 13-year-old in December 2003. Jurors have been played a secretly recorded conversation in which Cowan admits taking the boy and snapping his neck during a bid to molest him at an isolated property. Cowan has pleaded not guilty to murder, indecent treatment of a child and interfering with a corpse. His defence team has argued that Cowan made a false confession to undercover police, who were masquerading as members of a criminal gang. The trial continues in Brisbane today (AAP)
