Judge admits he was behind Theron leak

An Arkansas judge has confessed to leaking confidential information about Charlize Theron adopting her son months before she made an official announcement.

The Oscar winner adopted Jackson in early 2012 and managed to keep the news secret for several weeks.

She eventually confirmed the adoption in March 2012, two months after the news had been leaked on a Louisiana State University message board.

A poster using the name ‘‘geauxjudge’’ revealed the star was going through adoption proceedings and that she had turned up in court in a ‘‘long brown wig (and) oversized clothes’’ to ‘‘camouflage her appearance’’.

After an online report on Monday pointed the finger at Circuit Judge Mike Maggio, he has admitted being behind the leak.

‘‘I take full responsibility for the comments that have been attributed to me,’’ he said in a statement.

‘‘I apologise deeply for my lapse in personal judgment and for that, I have no excuse. The comments posted were not acceptable. These comments are not a reflection of who I am.’’

Maggio has now ended his campaign for a seat on the Arkansas Court of Appeals.

The state’s Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission director David Sachar has ordered an investigation.

Actress Lindsay Lohan says media mogul Oprah Winfrey has become a close confidante after the pair worked together on a new reality show.

Lohan says the two became close while working on program, Lindsay.

The actress feels grateful that she can call on Winfrey whenever she needs advice.

‘‘I feel really lucky to be able to work with someone like Oprah and create,’’ Lohan says.

‘‘I have a really strong bond with her... She has been this really strong person I can listen to and learn from in life.’’

The reality series was formulated after the actress sat down with Winfrey for an in-depth interview following Lohan’s release from rehab in 2013.

The show centres on Lohan as she returns to her native New York from California.

‘‘I became really spiritual over this past year and I have been trying to find peace and serenity in my life,’’ Lohan tells Extra.

‘‘So of course they take the chaos of me moving after eight years of living in LA back to the city of New York. It is a television show, so they want ratings - they picked the first two months after I got back to New York after I had been in treatment.’’

Despite her uneasiness about that, Lohan is happy to have taken part in the project.

‘‘I did it because it’s not a reality show, it’s pretty raw...Obviously it’s TV, so things will be edited in certain ways to what will get ratings, which I can’t control. But I do know that my intentions going into it were really pure and really honest and real and I really appreciate all that’s happened.’’

Lindsay premieres in the United States on Sunday.
