A man charged with threatening a mother and her son with a gun during a Barrack Heights break-in has faced Wollongong Court.
Police said a man, 22, answered a knock at the front door of his Viola Way home when he was allegedly confronted by a man demanding money at 10pm on Tuesday.
The occupant’s mother came to his aid before they were both threatened with a firearm.
The man allegedly stole a computer before fleeing.
Lake Illawarra police and the Dog Unit searched the area and a man was arrested at a home on View Street in Lake Illawarra at 8.30am on Wednesday.
Police said a firearm was found in a car parked outside the home.
The man, 34, was charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence whilst armed.
He was also charged with firearms-related offences.
He did not apply for bail.
