Hot on the heels of success at the NSW State Masters titles, Illawarra Cycle Club (ICC) picked up another haul of medals at the national track championships in Melbourne on Sunday.
The ICC won 20 medals at the state championships and proved itself one of the premier masters division cycle clubs in Australia with eight medals at the nationals contested at Melbourne's DISC velodrome.
Club coach and former Olympian Gary Mandy swept his masters six division, taking gold in the sprint and scratch race.
He also took gold in his pet time trial event in which he recently set a national record.
The trifecta earned him the champion of champions title for his division.
Deborah Coulls, a multiple state and national road medallist, capped an impressive transition to the track by taking bronze in women's masters five individual pursuit and bronze in the scratch race.
Coulls combined for gold with Kirsten Bennett, Catt Hooton and Renee Covington [Bathurst] in the women's over 120 years combined teams pursuit.
Sprint specialist Karen Thornton was also impressive, picking up fifth in the women's masters four time trial and sprint.
