Crash 'led to Koonawarra assault'

A minor car accident has allegedly resulted in a 38-year-old man being followed home and punched in the face, leaving him with a serious head wound.

About 5pm on Sunday, a 23-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, both from Koonawarra, allegedly went to the victim’s house on Lakelands Drive and assaulted him.

Police said the victim was knocked to the ground in his driveway.

Witnesses called triple-0 and the 38-year-old man was taken to Wollongong Hospital where he received 12 stitches to the wound in his head.

He was also treated for neck pain, sore ribs, lumps on the front and back of his head and a scrape on the right side of his lower back.

Both alleged assailants were charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

They are due to appear before Wollongong Local Court in late April.
