From Sunday, the Mercury and Advertiser offices will be located on Market Street in Wollongong.
From humble beginnings as a weekly sixpenny newspaper in 1855, the Mercury has evolved into a multimedia organisation, offering readers a newspaper six days a week, a website, digital edition and a mobile phone app.
Mercury editor Alistair Langford-Wilson welcomed the move, saying the new facilities were ideally located.
"With almost 50 reporters, photographers and editors based in Wollongong and dedicated to covering the Illawarra every day, it was important that we remain in the heart of the Wollongong CBD," he said.
"Our newsroom is one of the biggest outside a capital city, and the company's commitment to providing modern facilities will help our staff to keep providing the best coverage of this region from an office that is fresh, convenient, efficient and comfortable."
Mercury acting general manager Rod Tremayne said he was excited about the move, which will allow the paper's 90 staff to work together on one floor in modern offices.
The Mercury's massive photographic collection, consisting of 25 four-drawer filing cabinets filled with photos, plus more than 200 boxes of negatives dating from 1962, is now under the guardianship of Wollongong City Library, after a historic Deed of Gift was signed with the Mercury.
The new Mercury office will be located on Level 4, 77 Market Street in Wollongong (the ahm building).
