Michael Jackson’s brothers are determined to challenge the King of Pop’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe if she attempts to fight for custody of her two children.
Reports suggest Rowe, the biological mother of Prince and Paris, is concerned for the pair’s welfare under the care of their legal guardians, grandmother Katherine Jackson and uncle TJ, and is planning to file court papers to take them in herself.
However, the late superstar’s siblings, Tito, Randy, Jermaine and Jackie, insist Rowe has no right to uproot the teens after agreeing to give their brother full custody of Prince and Paris in exchange for a big cash payout following their 1999 divorce.
A statement issued by The Jacksons to TMZ.com reads: ‘‘(The children) are well loved and well taken care of. We are quite taken back (sic) that Ms. Rowe has decided now to enter their lives, after she abandoned her children many years ago for money.
‘‘Our only desire is to see our niece and nephews continue to go on with happy, healthy and safe lives. We will do everything and anything with in our power to help make that happen.’’
Rowe married Jackson in Sydney in 1996 when she was pregnant with their first child.Jackson died in 2009.
Kanye, Kim to wed in LA: report
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian will marry in a low-key wedding in Los Angeles ahead of their lavish ceremony in Paris, a report says.
The celebrity couple is planning to tie the knot in Paris next month, but a new report suggests they will exchange vows in secret days before their Parisian nuptials.
French law requires foreign citizens who wish to marry to have been resident in the country for 40 days before the wedding, so West and Kardashian will tie the knot in Los Angeles prior to flying to Europe, according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper.
A source tells the paper: ‘‘They’ve decided to get married behind closed doors in Los Angeles before they fly out to France.’’
Reports suggest the couple’s big day in Paris will take place on May 24.
Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas get married
US actress Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas are married.
The couple have been dating since they met on the set of Once Upon a Time in 2011 and announced their engagement in October last year.
People magazine reports they tied the knot on Saturday during an intimate ceremony in California.
Ginnifer, 35, and 32-year-old Josh are expecting their first child, but they are yet to reveal the baby’s due date.
The couple were excited when they announced their engagement.
‘‘We are so thrilled to announce our engagement and can’t wait to celebrate with our friends and family, including our second family at Once Upon a Time,’’ they said in a statement at the time.
News of Ginnifer’s pregnancy was revealed a month later.
The pair’s Once Upon a Time co-star Lana Parrilla, who plays The Evil Queen and Regina Mills in the show, recently spoke about how well matched they are.
‘‘They’re great. They’re total pros, they really are. We all know they’re together, but when they’re on set, they’re very professional,’’ she said.
‘‘It’s not like, ’Oh, there’s Ginny and Josh. They’re in a corner.’ They’re always in their chair. But when we go out, they hold hands and show their affection and love for one another. It’s very cute.’’
It’s Ginnifer’s first marriage. Josh was previously married to actress Lara Pulver, but they divorced in 2011.
Sip of wine quiets royal baby speculation
It’s taken one sip of wine to cool down royal baby speculation sparked by one word.
Several British tabloids pounced on reports the Duke of Cambridge told the woman who made New Zealand’s official gift of a shawl for the newborn Prince George last July:
‘‘You might have to make another one soon.’’Cynthia Read met the duke and duchess during their visit to Cambridge on Saturday.
‘‘The way William said it was like he was dropping a hint, letting me in on a secret,’’ Mrs Read reportedly said.
Asked if she thought he meant a brother or sister for eight-month-old George would soon be on the way, she replied:
‘‘Maybe. I couldn’t possibly comment. Obviously if I’m asked to do another one I would be honoured, but we’ll wait and see.’’
But by Sunday there were reports that Mrs Read had actually said ‘‘sometime’’ not ‘‘soon’’.
Kate’s decision later on Sunday to taste wine at Amisfield winery and take the Shotover Jet ride in Queenstown also had many commentators doubting the pregnancy buzz.
Neither is recommended for pregnant women. And then there’s the fact that Kate has been the picture of health and vitality during the trip so far.
She was hospitalised early in her pregnancy with George with hyperemesis gravidarum - a form of morning sickness that causes severe vomiting.
Gervais caught short in fan’s toilet photo
British comedian Ricky Gervais has issued a stark warning on the perils of being a celebrity in the age of Instagram.
Gervais told the Sunday Mirror how an over-eager fan ambushed him in a public toilet while at a boxing match in the USA.He said:
‘‘I went to see a title fight with Joe Calzaghe in New York, I went to the loo and this guy is like, ’Hey man, can I have a picture?’ Arm straight round me, doing a selfie while I’m in the middle of doing a wee.
‘‘I didn’t even have a chance to say 'Can we leave it a minute, mate?’ There’s lots of testosterone at those things, you don’t want to say no.‘‘All I could think was, ’How wide-angled was that lens? What did he get in?’.’’
More recently, Gervais has joined forces with US comedy stalwart Tina Fey in the newly released film, Muppets Most Wanted, in which he plays Dominic Badguy, a henchman for an evil Russian frog.
He said of his experience making the film: ‘‘I wanted to keep hugging them all and rub their pot bellies, and I kept scratching their heads thinking they’d like it. It’s a man’s hand!’’
