AC/DC lead singer Brian Johnson denies band is breaking up, set to record in May

AC/DC has confirmed founding member Malcolm Young has a "debilitating illness" and cannot continue in the band, but the band has vowed to make new music without him.

Lead singer Brian Johnson, told London's The Telegraph the global rock powerhouse intended to keep its date with a Vancouver recording studio in May, although he did admit a band member had "a debilitating illness".

Soon after AC/DC released a short statement via its Facebook page confirming the many rumours around Young:

"After 40 years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.

"In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time."

Then came the words fans worldwide had been desperate to hear: "The band will continue to make music."

On Wednesday morning, a source close to the family told Fairfax that Young was unlikely to play again and could even be moved to respite care.

But Johnson made it clear the band wasn't finished. "We are definitely getting together in May in Vancouver," Johnson told The Telegraph.

"We're going to pick up some guitars, have a plonk, and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas. If anything happens, we'll record it."

Johnson told The Telegraph the band was not splitting up but he admitted an uncertain future. "I wouldn't like to say anything either way about the future. I'm not ruling anything out.

"One of the boys has a debilitating illness, but I don't want to say too much about it. He is very proud and private, a wonderful chap. We've been pals for 35 years and I look up to him very much."

Johnson added that the mooted 40th anniversary world tour plans - initially said to include 40 shows in 40 venues were on hold.

"That would be a wonderful way to say 'bye bye'," Johnson said. "We would love to do it. But it's all up in the air at the moment."

Rumours of AC/DC's imminent demise spread rapidly from Tuesday morning when Melbourne 3AW entertainment commentator Peter Forde reported the band may never record or tour again after an anonymous email to Perth station 6PR claimed Young had moved back to Australia and was "very, very ill".

The rumour spread worldwide via social media and while many people close to the band and family commented on Young's health, the band itself stayed silent until late on Wednesday.

Earlier on Wednesday, Choirboys frontman confirmed Young's illness to ABC radio: "From what I understand, and it's even been confirmed in part by his son Ross [Young], that it would appear Malcolm is unable to perform any more."

Are Ashton and Mila having a girl?

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are reportedly having a girl.

The engaged couple have yet to publicly confirm Kunis is pregnant, although the actress did stroke her apparent baby bump during an appearance at the MTV Movie Awards last weekend.

It’s now been claimed they have already discovered the sex of their unborn child, with multiple sources telling Us Weekly the baby is a girl.

This is the first child for both Kutcher and Kunis, although Kutcher was step-father to Rumer, Tallulah and Scout Willis when he was married to Demi Moore.

He is known to have got along well with the girls, with an insider explaining he’s had ‘‘plenty of practice’’ when it comes to raising females.

Kunis is said to be enjoying every minute of her pregnancy, even though she prefers to keep the details of it secret.

At the moment it’s not known when the baby is due to be born.Kutcher and Kunis have known each other for years after appearing alongside each other on That ’70s Show.

They got together romantically in 2012 but have been very secretive about their relationship and haven’t confirmed they are engaged, although Kunis has been spotted with a ring on her finger.

Gwyneth views split as temporary

Gwyneth Paltrow reportedly only sees her marriage split as a ‘‘six-month break’’.

The Iron Man actress and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin called time on their union last month, in a statement titled ‘‘Conscious Uncoupling’’ that was posted on Gwyneth’s website Goop.

But they’ve continued to put on a united front, and have remained close for the sake of their children Apple, nine, and eight-year-old Moses.

‘‘It seems Gwyneth’s had a change of heart. There’s talk that she thinks this might be a six-month break while they explore other options and people. There are hints that the relationship isn’t irretrievably broken,’’ a source told British magazine Grazia.

Gwyneth and Chris tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in December 2003, and were often regarded as one of the strongest couples in showbiz.

Following the split announcement, the family enjoyed a holiday in the Bahamas together, and were seen looking close at Robert Downey Jr’s 49th birthday party last weekend.

While both Gwyneth and Chris have been linked to other people, with rumours that infidelities may have caused the breakdown of the marriage, neither party has commented on the gossip.

It was also reported that Jennifer Aniston was keen to set Gwyneth up with another Hollywood big hitter.

Gaga pre-airbrush photos leak

Original pictures from Lady Gaga’s Versace fashion shoot showing the singer before airbrushing have leaked online.

The star posed for the spread to promote the design house’s accessories collection, and now a set of snaps from the shoot have emerged showing what she looked like before the pictures were digitally altered.

In the photos, which have gone viral on the web, Gaga is seen with pasty skin and dark under-eye circles, while her legs are covered in bruises.

The photographs appear to be in stark contrast to the heavily airbrushed snaps which featured in the Versace campaign.

Sick Miley blasts fans from hospital bed

Miley Cyrus has hit out at critics from her sick bed after an allergic reaction forced her to postpone another date on her Bangerz tour.

The Wrecking Ball singer has been angered by the negativity directed towards her in social media circles after she fell ill and had to be hospitalised.

The singer axed a concert in Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday night and has since postponed a gig in St Louis, Missouri on Wednesday.

The cancellation, Cyrus’ third so far on the Bangerz tour, appears to have upset fans and critics, who have taken aim at the singer on Twitter and Facebook.

On Wednesday Cyrus responded by tweeting ‘‘humans can b so selfish. if any1 (anyone) thinks id rather b layin n a (be laying in a) hospital bed than doing what i love on stage theyre f***in LAME. im miserable (sic).’’

Cyrus remains hospitalised for a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics.

A representative for the 21-year-old said in a statement that Cyrus was canceling her Wednesday performance at the Scottrade Center in St Louis.

Cyrus also cancelled a Tuesday show in Kansas City, Missouri, and last week she canceled a stop on her tour in Charlotte, North Carolina, because she had the flu.

Her representative said Wednesday that Friday’s show in Nashville, Tennessee was still scheduled to go on.
