A 35-year-old Southern Highlands man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl numerous times over a period of eight years.

He was arrested by Nowra child abuse squad detectives on Wednesday night and charged with 11 counts of aggravated indecent assault, four counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child under 16 years and two counts each of sexual intercourse with a child aged between 10 and 14 years and attempted sexual intercourse with a child aged between 10 and 14 years.
Police will allege the man assaulted the girl numerous times over the past eight years, when she was aged between five and 13 years old.
He was refused bail and will appear in Nowra Local Court on Thursday.
