Two police officers were injured when a Unanderra man allegedly attacked them with a shovel on Thursday morning.

Lake Illawarra Police attended a Rickard Road home at about 10am to serve a man with an AVO.
The man then became aggressive, and he attacked the officers with the garden tool.
Lake Illawarra Police Inspector Andrew Koutsoufis said a violent confrontation took place when police attempted to arrest him, with one officer sustaining severe bruising to his hand and the other a cut to his arm.
Both were treated at Wollongong Hospital.
The alleged offender was also injured and taken to hospital, where he received several stitches to his head.
He has since been taken to Lake Illawarra Police station and is assisting police with inquiries.
