Shoalhaven police inspector John Behrendt said the man was thrown into the air and landed on the road after colliding with a station wagon’s windscreen on Kalandar Street in Nowra at 6.20pm.
Inspector Behrendt said the man suffered serious injuries to his head and neck and multiple leg fractures.
The man was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital by ambulance before being flown to St George Hospital in Sydney where is in a critical condition.
The 60-year-old Nowra woman who was driving the station wagon underwent mandatory blood and alcohol testing.
Police are continuing their investigation.
