The inspiration for the 1000-kilometre ride came from watching what happened to a long-time friend who became a paraplegic after a snowboarding accident in France.
Ever since seeing the impact of that accident on his friend Dean three years ago, Mr Beccari has been planning a fund-raiser to help further research into this area.
Mr Beccari has remained in constant contact with his friend and his desire to do something to help other people in similar situations has only grown stronger.
Having completed school and university together, the two understand the importance of conducting scientific research.
Encouragingly, doctors believe that a cure for spinal injuries is not a matter of "if" but "when", with research funding in constant demand.
Mr Beccari is still planning his route but will head off from Brisbane on his 1000-kilometre journey on June 19 and expects to arrive in Wollongong on July 6.
Along the way he will be seeking as much publicity as possible and stopping in every town to raise as much money as he can for SpinalCure Australia.
He will be unaided and carry all his supplies and equipment with him.
Mr Beccari knows first-hand how active his good friend had been prior to his accident and he has made a pact with his friend.
If and when Dean recovers, he will repeat the ride with Mr Beccari.
