$3 mil tipped for waterfront Bulli home: photos


A luxurious Bulli home, built on prime waterfront land at Sandon Point, is expected to fetch more than $3 million when it goes to auction next month.

The property at 2 Weaver Terrace is so prestigious that two real estate agencies have been contracted to market the sale for maximum exposure.

With never-to-be built out views, the land alone went for $1.612,500 when the current owner bought it in December 2010, according to Australian Property Monitors.

To complement the marketing of the high-end home, the interior walls have been adorned with paintings on loan by award-winning Illawarra artist Sue Smalkowski.

The idea to use Ms Smalkowski’s work was the brainchild of Bevans Marketing creative director Will Soeterboek in consultation with Wollongong City Gallery’s Vivian Vidulich.

Mr Soeterboek said the agency felt Ms Smalkowski’s paintings connected perfectly with the Bulli property in which the view from every window showcased the natural environment.

The 10 abstract paintings are based on the Illawarra landscape.

Ms Smalkowski’s works have been hung in many art exhibitions over the years but this is her first collaboration on a real estate project.

‘‘I felt it was a really good opportunity to showcase my works and have it all in this one lovely home, with spectacular ocean and escarpment views out the window,’’ she said.

The five double-bedroom, three bathroom home is being sold through Bevans Real Estate Wollongong agents James Ianni and Andrew Hedley; and McGrath Real Estate Thirroul agents Kane Downie and Trever Molenaar.

Set on a north-facing 601 square metres block, with a reserve adjoining the lot, the property has north, east and west views of the escarpment and ocean.

Mr Hedley described the land as unique, offering panoramic views of the coast, and a northern aspect with views which extend to the national park.

The property will go to auction onsite on Tuesday, July 22 at 5pm.
