8.16am NATIONAL: The federal government has pledged $140 million to a global education fund, headed up by former PM Julia Gillard. The Global Partnership for Education helps millions of children in about 60 developing countries go to school. Announcing the four years of funding today, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said education was a key pillar of the government’s new foreign aid policy framework. (AAP)
