Just days before the Australian swimming team was set to assemble, reigning Commonwealth champion Meagen Nay and multiple Paralympic gold medallist Jacqui Freney have withdrawn from the Glasgow Games.
Rookies Madison Wilson and Lakeisha Patterson were named as replacements in the 59-strong team that will gather for a pre-Games camp in Manchester on Sunday.
Nay - who claimed two gold at the Delhi Commonwealth Games - has succumbed to a shoulder complaint. Young Australian of the Year Freney is suffering fatigue and will now focus on August's Para Pan Pacs meet in California.
It will mark the first senior team appearance for backstroker Wilson, while 15-year-old Patterson will contest the Parasport 100m freestyle in Glasgow after already earning Para Pan Pacs selection.
Dual Olympian Nay, 25, has been a national team mainstay for years, claiming 200m backstroke gold and featuring in the winning 4x200m freestyle relay team at the Delhi Games. AAP
