It took NSW Rural Fire Service volunteers and Fire and Rescue NSW crews almost three hours to bring the blaze, near West Cliff Colliery, under control.
The fire started at 7pm.
About 30 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze while RFS volunteers ensured coal did not run into the catchment area.
The road was closed for more than an hour, with one lane reopening at 8.15pm.
Executive general manager at Scott Corporation, which owned the truck, Dave Keane said the damage to the vehicle was “reasonably extensive”.
He said the company would investigate the cause of the fire.
