At about 6am the water tanker being driven south on the Princes Highway, collided with a medium strip at the intersection.
As a result the truck crossed the intersection of Bolong Road and the Princes Highway, broke through a light pole, ran down an embankment and crashed into tree.
The collision with the light pole left live wires exposed which were caught underneath the truck. The driver remained in the truck until the live power line was isolated.
One northbound lane on the Princes Highway was closed while emergency services attended the scene and a heavy vehicle tow truck recovered the water tanker.
Police ask witnesses to contact Nowra Police Station via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
