A GPT spokesman confirmed a contractor had hit the water main, causing it to rupture, about 4pm.
"We're currently working with Sydney water to rectify the situation and stop the flow of water," the spokesman said at 4.30pm.
"There is currently no impact or disruption to the general public or shops on Keira Street."
However, restaurant worker Daniel Lu said it was yet another in a long list of disruptions caused by the development.
Mr Lu said three weeks ago the flow of water was suddenly stopped. "It's bad," he said. "They don't care about us."
