Man charged over glassing at Wollongong club

A man will face court over a glassing incident in Wollongong on Thursday.

Police have been told about 5.30pm Thursday, a 26-year-old man at Crown Street club allegedly became involved in a verbal argument with a 25-year-old man.

A third man intervened and he was allegedly assaulted. Staff at the club took the injured man out of the club and the argument ended. BUt soon after another argument ensued between the 25 and 26-year-old man, when the younger man allegedly threw a glass at a poker machine, causing it to smash.

The older man suffered a cut above his right eye; but did not need treatment.

About 1.30pm Friday officers attached to Wollongong Local Area Command were contacted and commenced investigations.

Following police inquiries on Friday, police arrested a 25-year-old man at a home on Mercury Street about 8.30pm.

He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray and stalk/intimidate intend fear.

The man was granted conditional bail, to appear at Port Kembla Local Court on Tuesday, August 26, 2014.
