Blue skies and calm conditions made for perfect tree planting weather as volunteers rolled up their sleeves to take part in Planet Ark's National Tree Day on Sunday.

They helped 2200 new seedlings take root at a number of sites across Wollongong, including Greenhouse Park on Springhill Road, Bellambi Creek, Nyrang Park in Keiraville and Cringila Park.
For Bulli woman Megan Hart, it was her second National Tree Day at Greenhouse Park.
"I just like to help the environment, it's a beautiful way to spend a Sunday morning," she said.
She was among a small army of green thumbs filling in compost around seedlings on a steep hillside of the reserve.
"National Tree Day is a great way for residents to get involved in a local community initiative and do their part to make a positive contribution to their environment," Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said.
Wollongong Botanic Garden horticultural staff visited eight schools across the city last week to teach kids about species selection and planting as part of the initiative.
