Home and Away actress Ada Nicodemou is mourning the loss of her son after he was delivered stillborn on Thursday.

In a statement released via Channel Seven, Ms Nicodemou and her husband Chrys Xipolitas said their son Harrison was delivered stillborn.

"It is with great sadness that we need to share some news with you," the statement said.

"Our baby boy Harrison was delivered stillborn on Thursday 7 August 2014.

"We appreciate your love and support as we mourn the loss of our precious son."

The 37-year-old actress announced her pregancy to New Idea magazine in March this year. The couple struggled to conceive their first child, Johnas, before turning to IVF in 2011.

"For it to happen so quickly after we struggled for so long last time is a really nice surprise and we feel really really lucky," Ms Nicodemou told the magazine.

The family has asked for privacy during this "difficult and extremely painful time".
