A 61-year-old woman was working in a newsagency on Island Point Road when two men entered the store with their faces covered just before 6am.
The men threatened the attendant with a firearm and took cash.
They ran away on foot and were last seen running in a north-easterly direction.
The shop attendant was not injured during the incident.
Investigators want to speak to two men described as having a thin to medium build, about 175 centimetres tall, possibly aged in their early 20s. They were wearing hooded jumpers – one grey and one dark blue.
Police would also like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the newsagency at the time of the robbery.
