Dedicated walker's heart in right place

Sydney restaurateur Con Dedes is walking from Wollongong's Stuart Park to Woolwich in Sydney to raise money for kids with heart disease.

He begins his two-day trek on Wednesday morning. HeartKids and Heart Research Australia will be the beneficiaries of his walk.

Mr Dedes said he was a "heart kid" himself and had open heart surgery when he was six years old and then again when he was 29.

"I'm in my forties now and still very much a kid at heart, thanks to the wonderful work Heart Research Australia and HeartKids do. I know I have personally benefited from their efforts and determination," he said.
