A 400-metre section of the popular tourist drive, between the scout camp and Byarong Park, was closed to traffic in December 2012 to allow for $2.4 million worth of stabilisation and hazard reduction work.
Improvements were made to the lower embankment, upper slopes and the road itself.
It will be closed again for about two days in October to allow the placement of the final asphalt road surface and line marking.
