Nine games into his partnership with Lance Franklin, big Kurt Tippett has warned their burgeoning combination has plenty of scope for improvement.

The Swans's twin towers have combined for 64 goals heading into Saturday's final-round AFL encounter with Richmond at ANZ Stadium.

Coleman Medal leader Franklin is averaging more goals per game when Tippett is playing in the team.

Their potent forward partnership has scaled new heights in the last two rounds, in which they have combined for 22 goals.

Apart from one game in which Tippett came off injured, both have kicked at least two goals in every match they've played together.

"I think we're building," Tippett said on Tuesday.

"Nine games now, I think we've still got a lot of improvement to come, so that's exciting.

"We pick apart our game each week and I think the relationship and our movement patterns can still improve."

Injuries have limited Tippett to 10 games this year, but he said his body felt great.

"I'm pretty close to being fully match fit, I've been training consistently and playing now for about six weeks," Tippett said.

While used primarily as the deep forward this year, Tippett said he was also enjoying his time pinch-hitting in the ruck.

Sydney co-captain McVeigh said a round-23 fixture against a Richmond team riding an eight-game winning streak and needing victory to clinch a finals berth was a great test for the ladder-leading Swans.

"We play a finals brand every week and our boys are ready for this game," McVeigh said.

"It's panned out that they have to win for a finals game, so that will really test us, so we look forward to that leading into a finals campaign."

McVeigh marvelled at how 34-year-old veteran Adam Goodes retained his speed and hunger, and thought the club games record holder could back up for a 17th season next year, depending on injuries by the end of this season. AAP
