Julie Faddy and Pat Boniface have taught at the Oak Flats school for a combined total of more than 42 years.
Mrs Boniface began teaching at Balarang on November 8, 1990, and Mrs Faddy had her first day on March 13, 1995.
Over the years they worked closely together, and for the past two years worked with the kindergarten students.
When the subject of her retirement came up recently, Mrs Faddy let slip that she had always wanted to ride in a truck.
Armed with that information, school principal Anne-Marie Hurley worked the phones and on Wednesday morning, to the delight of the school's children, Peter Brailey from Brailey's Transport rolled up in his Kenworth to take the two teachers for a spin around the streets of Oak Flats.
